Stock targets
An item starts only when enough ingredients are available for 13 cycles (a fixed startup batch). This exceeds the buffer of an assembling machine even with a bulk inserter carrying 12 items, preventing repeated recipe switching. Stack inserters are not supported.

How to connect
- Place an assembling machine with inserters: storage → assembler → storage.
- Green wire: storage (a chest reading its contents, or a roboport) → combinator input (bottom end).
- A separate green wire: combinator output (top end) → assembler. Enable Set recipe on the assembler. Keep the two green networks separate.
- The machine replenishes missing stock in plan order (higher = higher priority). Items removed from storage are produced again.
- With Add a requester chest enabled, the blueprint includes a chest requesting a stack of each raw material, already connected to the combinator input with green wire. Place an inserter from the chest to the assembler, and connect the rest of your storage (a roboport or output chest) to the same green network. By default, intermediate products must return directly from the assembler to the same chest via the output inserter. If output goes to a separate chest, enable Also request intermediate products so robots return them to the machine.
The stock level is the quantity in storage to maintain. Intermediate products are stocked for a full set of target products, so the set is rebuilt after production. A shortage of raw materials for an earlier item holds up later items. With a finite supply, an amount smaller than the startup batch remains unused.
